Common media questions
Is CERM only a certification or training organisation?
No. Training and certification are one part of CERM. Its remit also includes research, public information, policy advice, legal and fundamental-rights expertise, conferences, professional networks and partnerships.
Does CERM assist governments and lawmakers?
Yes. CERM's role includes advice, technical support and policy recommendations to national, European and international institutions and public authorities, drawing on medical, legal, religious-practice and policy expertise.
Does CERM provide legal support?
CERM can provide legal and fundamental-rights expertise and, where appropriate, contribute to administrative or judicial processes. It is not a law firm, and general website material is not individual legal advice.
Does CERM train new Mohalim?
No. CERM works on supplementary competencies for people who already hold the relevant religious qualification.
Is CERM certification an official medical licence?
No. It certifies CERM-defined competencies only. It does not confer the legal authority of a doctor or other regulated healthcare professional.
Was the June 2026 Brussels conference organised by CERM?
No. It was organised by the European Jewish Association. The event and the expert discussion around it helped inform the development of CERM.
